The rumble of the city streets, the cheers of the crowd, the pounding of feet on pavement ā the New York City Marathon is an experience unlike any other. For many runners, it's a test of physical and mental endurance, a personal challenge to conquer 26.2 miles. But for me, this year's marathon is about something much larger. It's about remembrance, hope, and the relentless pursuit of a cure. I'm running to honor the memory of a dear family friend, Shayna Wolf-Hirsch, whose life was tragically cut short by melanoma. Shayna was a remarkable person ā a force of nature with an infectious spirit and a passion for life. Her battle against this devastating disease was a testament to her strength and resilience, and her memory continues to inspire me every day.
Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, but it's also one of the most preventable and treatable when detected early. That's why I'm dedicating my marathon journey to raising funds and awareness for IMPACT Melanoma, a national non-profit organization working to reduce the incidence of melanoma.
IMPACT Melanoma is at the forefront of this fight, providing crucial resources for prevention, early detection, and patient support. They focus on education and prevention, teaching people of all ages about sun safety and the importance of early detection. They also provide resources and support for detection and diagnosis, ensuring that individuals have access to the information and care they need. And importantly, they offer support services, providing guidance and assistance to patients and families affected by melanoma. My goal is to raise funds to support IMPACT Melanoma's life-saving mission. Every dollar raised will go directly towards these vital programs, bringing us closer to a world without melanoma.
I invite you to join me in this journey. Whether you're a fellow runner, a supporter of cancer research, or someone who has been touched by this disease, your contribution can make a significant difference. Please consider donating to my fundraising campaign and help me honor Shayna's memory by supporting IMPACT Melanoma.
Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against melanoma.
